Depending on the weather and sea traffic, your scenic boat tour guide will show you Charleston city history of the antebellum houses, pass under bridges, the Cooper River, Fort Sumter National Monument, Fort Moultrie, and Fort Johnson, along with St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.
You’ll get to enjoy sightings of wildlife as you cruise, which will probably include dolphins, pelicans, and other birds and creatures. Some of the wildlife could consist of: bats, beavers, bobcat, coyote, deer, gray fox, long-tailed weasel, manatee, mink, muskrat, opossum, raccoon, red fox, river otter, southern fox squirrel, spotted skunk, and wild hog.
The Atlantic bottlenose dolphins in the Charleston waters are playful and are typically around all year. They hang out in packs of up to 12 dolphins. Hopefully, you will encounter a “bow rider” which hitches a ride in the bow wave of your boat.
With 424 species of birds in South Carolina, there is a strong likelihood that you will see shorebirds and wading birds. The shorebirds are oystercatchers and sandpipers. The wading birds are storks, herons, and egrets.
